Reflections on Space, Place and Time
In 2012, I spent a month in the small village of Caylus, France (at a great residency called DrawInternational). While there, I developed a series of drawings that had as their source a small lake at the outskirts of the village. I had been occupied with thoughts of how time and space alter our understanding of place, and the drawings focused on distorted reflections on the surface of the water. Gradually I became focused on the plants floating like sparkling coins on the surface. When I returned home, the work in the studio reflected this new obsession. (See Monet’s Garden Revisited)
